Summer Catch Up

I have failed miserably at updating our blog. I will do much better in the future, promise! This summer has mostly been made up of working. Erik is continuing to work full time at the International Rescue Committee, and I found a full time nanny job. We have had some fun weekend trips to St.George/Zion's National Park, California, and Jackson Hole. We've had a blast spending time with friends and relaxing since I have not had to spend all my time studying, yahoo! I will do some more posts about those trips. One of the fun outings we went on was to a Diamondbacks game. It was so awesome to see my old roommate Vanessa and her husband Preston. We are headed to Boston on Tuesday, I CAN'T WAIT! More updates on everything to come...

Happy Anniversary

Obviously, I am ridiculously behind on our blog! Things have been VERY busy the last couple months, especially with school. I had finals, then a week long seminar, a week off, then summer classes. Needless to say, I am dying for a nice long break.  Erik has been working full time and finishing up some online classes, so he has been pretty busy himself.
On April 10 we had our second anniversary. Erik surprised me with a Chik-fil-a breakfast in bed. I was still sleeping when he left, so I woke up slightly confused. He also left me some of my favorite truffles, and best of all.... a letter or love note for EVERY HOUR of the day. It was the best anniversary gift ever. Unfortunately we couldn't spend the day together because he had work and I had school. Erik took me to The Melting Pot for dinner, which was super exciting since I had never been there. He called ahead and ordered "The Romance Package" which meant that we had our own curtained off area decorated with rose petals! It was extremely romantic. They gave us some sparking cider and a frame with a picture of us in it!

I had to document all of my letters! I will save them forever

This is what our table looked like when we first came in!

I have to share a picture of my food, it was amazing!

Thanks to The Melting Pot for making our anniversary so special.

I can't believe that this was two years ago. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have married such a wonderful man. He spoils me rotten, even when I don't deserve it. He is such a hard worker and so fun to be around. He keeps me laughing and helps me to see things in different ways. I could go on and on. Thanks for choosing me Erik Adair Johnson!

Sandy San Diego

Our most recent adventure this past weekend kicked off my spring break. We went to San Diego with some friends. It was definitely a highlight since we have moved here. We started off our first day at Sea World. It was my first time there, and I loved it. We saw a dolphin and whale show, also sea turtles, beluga whales, and sharks! We even went on a couple of rides, which were a blast. The next day my friend Caitlin and I ran to the beach. It was a 9.5 mile run, which made the beach feel that much better. I was ecstatic that we were able to go to the beach, because San Diego is usually too cold for that during this time of the year. Anyway, I officially learned how to ride the waves with a boogie board, which was an exhilarating feeling! Afterward, we went to a yummy sea food restaurant called Blue Water, which I would recommend to anyone visiting San Diego. The next day we sadly ended our trip. We will be back for you San Diego!

Excited to spend the day at Sea World

 Some beautiful flamingos

 Such a lovely fish tank

My first encounter with a walrus, it was SO big!

A beluga whale, one of my favorite exhibits!

I love love love sea turtles, they just seem so sweet and peaceful.

Couldn't be happier to be at the beach

The fabulous company we enjoyed on our trip

The stud I get to call mine :)

Thank you Caitlin and Billy for inviting us on this beyond awesome trip, we couldn't have enjoyed it more!

Here and There

Things have been in full swing since we got back from our trip. We have had some exciting things going on. First off, Erik was officially offered a full time position at the International Rescue Committee. The next day, he found out that he was admitted into Arizona State University's Master of Social Work Advanced Standing Program. I am so proud of him and all of his hard work! He will be working at the IRC full time until he starts school, so he is very busy. Meanwhile, I have been busy with the craziness of PT school.
We have spent a majority of our time working, studying, and watching Netflix in between. I'll mention some recent highlights when we were able to put at the responsibilities aside and have fun. One of our dear friend's birthday happens to fall on Valentine's day. We made plans with her to celebrate the day after her birthday... little did she know, we were involved in a SURPRISE party on her actual birthday! It was very difficult for me to keep it a secret, but I survived. She had no idea so it was definitely a success. We showed up early to help decorate and such, which is when my craftiness was put to the test by making some heart glasses. They were so fun and goofy, I would recommend them to everyone haha. (See glasses pictured below).
I went to Flagstaff in northern Arizona for NAU's PT interview weekend. It was a super fun girl's trip with my friends Melanie and Jessica. We spent our days helping potential students get to their interviews, and spent our nights talking, laughing, and going out to dinner. Flagstaff is such a beautiful area, and it even snowed.

Just the men being manly in their heart glasses!

Kali's husband, getting ready to surprise her.

 My PT school girls

I'm pretty sure I single handedly lifted the birthday girl haha

With my Valentine on Valentine's day

The hot tub at the house wouldn't heat up, so naturally we decided to take a bubble bath together. Yes, I do have a bathing suit on.

With my love, Melanie

Christmas Vacation Part 3

Oh where to begin! After a few days in Orlando, we drove to Port Canavaral to head out on our Johnson family cruise! We had a great trip spending time with the whole crew. We had a couple days on the boat, and several days adventuring! Our first stop was in Cozumel, Mexico. We went to a place called Paradise Beach where they had tons of inflatable toys/obstacles, paddle boards, snorkeling gear, and more. It was so fun to spend the day playing the ocean. This past summer was the first summer I can remember that I did not go to the beach. So actually going felt AMAZING! The next day, we went to Roatan, Honduras. Erik and I rented a scooter and explored the island. It was so cool to actually see the locals and how they live. I felt very blessed and fortunate to have all that we have. We drove to a gorgeous beach and decided to go snorkeling. I saw my first turtle in the open ocean, which made my cruise! The next day we went to Belize, where we embarked on a journey to see some ruins. We took a bus to a river, which was in the middle of a jungle. Then we took a speedboat through this crocodile infested river through the jungle.. I felt like I was in that Indiana Jones movie when he goes to the Amazon. Anyway, we arrived to our destination and saw some stunning ruins. I was in awe at how huge and beautiful they were.
Our last port was in Costa Maya, Mexico. Unfortunately, it was a cold and rainy day. We walked around a boardwalk and got some massages, which was really nice. All in all, we had a wonderful Christmas break! Please excuse my crappy pictures... Our friends let us borrow their GoPro, but I am not the best photographer. I am definitely working on it. One of the things I am most disappointed about is that I couldn't capture the beauty of the places we were able to go to. I want to take a photography class, but I won't have time to do that for awhile. So bear with me.

First day on the boat

So excited to finally be on the cruise

Finally, relaxing in the beautiful sun

So happy to be going to the beach!

Hi Mexico

Waiting for a taxi...

Group pic on the dock

I tried out the paddle boards, they were so fun

Having fun with my sister in law, Heather

Hello Honduras

Boppin around with a scooter and a selfie stick

So I accidentally left the camera on constant picture taking mode, which resulted in 350 pictures of my legs, shirt, and the sand. This was one that actually was a person!

On our way to go snorkeling

Hi friends!

On top of the world! At least the giant ruins in the jungle.

unBELIZEable

The crew

Biggest head that I've ever sat on

Enjoying Costa Maya

That croc was huge, we were lucky to make it out alive!

We did a family murder mystery night, it was awesome. The theme was old Western. Erik was a cowboy and I was the town mistress. I should add that our roles were assigned, not chosen haha

My sisters! Don't worry, Heather is not a weirdo, she was just already dressed in her role as an old widow for our murder mystery night.

Our last night on the boat :(
